Study of Baubau River Development Feasibility as a Cultural Based Economic Activity Area

The purpose of the study is to examine the business prospects that can be carried out in watersheds, analyze the feasibility of fish cultivation business in watersheds in Baubau, as information material for business people and is expected to be used as consideration in developing economic activities in the watershed in Baubau, and as an evaluation material for socio-economic impacts for the local community. This research is classified into qualitative descriptive research using quantitative approach methods, while this type of research is a field research that aims to intensively study the current conditions of an object of research in certain time conditions. The results obtained that the water quality is in accordance with the Class III Water Quality Standards, including the category that has not been polluted or meets the quality standards, so that it can be utilized for fish cultivation activities. The recommendations are given as follows, firstly, it’s necessary to equate the perception of the existence of the Baubau river as one of the economic potentials that can be developed for the community and city government without ignoring the ecological aspects and the value of local wisdom. Second, it’s necessary for structuring and repairing the river embankment to ensure readiness to use the river as a fish cultivation area and other economic activities, and third, it’s necessary for a thorough study of the socio-economic conditions of the river bank to ensure several alternative economic activities that need to be developed and in accordance with the characteristics of the river.
